'Her Star Is Born' Garland
Andrea ClementsShare
I really enjoyed making the Floral Garland, the simple repeats and seeing it grow very quickly, it was super relaxing and very therapeutic for me!  Because I enjoyed it so much, for this design I decided I wanted to make another garland but wanted it to be more Christmassy (not really a word I know!) so I would be able to pop it onto my Christmas tree. Â
That is really how Her Star is Born Garland came about!
Â
Â
I used a 3.5mm Clover Amour Hook.
The yarn I use for this pattern is Scheepjes Twinkle in colour way 938.
Whilst this yarn is not soft (due to the Lurex fibres) it is 75% cotton and is lovely and sparkly, perfect for stars!
Â
I use UK terms throughout.
Â
- Chain 25 and slip stitch into the fifth chain from the hook.

Â
- At this stage your remaining 20 chains should be on the left hand side of your work if you are right handed like me) like in the photo below.
Â

- Move the remaining 20 chains to the right hand side of your work (if you are right handed), like in the photo below.

- Chain 2 (counts as your first half treble). Half Treble 14 into the ring, slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 2.

Â
- Chain 5. 1 double crochet into the second chain from the hook, 1 half treble crochet into the next chain, 1 treble into the next chain, 1 double treble into the last chain.

- You have now created your 5 star points. Â

Â
Once you have finished your 5th star point, chain 25 and you are ready to start another star! Continue on until you reach the desired length then fasten off!
While I think the way the tips of the stars curl are very sweet, I do think Her Star is Born Garland would benefit from blocking.  This yarn has more of a tendency to curl because of the lurex.  It is entirely up to you whether you choose to block or not! Â
