New Year, New Rows - A yarny poem!

Something a little bit different to see in the New Year... a Yarny Poem!

At midnight the clock ticks, a new year begins,
With yarn in our laps and hooks poised to swing.
The needles click softly, a rhythm, a start,
As hopes are cast on with a well-practised heart.

Last year’s tangled skeins taught patience and grace,
Dropped stitches were lessons we learned to embrace.
Frogged rows remind us it’s fine to undo—
Sometimes going back helps us start something new.

Fresh balls of yarn wait, skeins wound and so bright,
Like hope filled promises, brimming with light.
Each colour a promise, each texture a dream,
Of blankets and jumpers and scarves yet unseen.

We’ll count not the hours but rows that we make,
In chains, purls and trebles—no shortcuts to take.
One stitch at a time, slow progress is still
A beautiful journey of skill, care and will.

So here’s to the makers this New Year ahead,
With patterns half-written and ideas widespread.
May your tension be steady, your edges stay true,
And your yarn last the project—well… maybe a few.

As the year stretches on like a long skein of time,
We’ll stitch through the seasons, each loop and each stitch defined
For in knitting and crochet, we quietly find
A handmade new year—for the hands and the mind.
Here at Yarn Me Calm we wish you all a happy, loving, fun, safe and yarn filled year!
