I am sooo excited and have some amazing news to share!
A little while ago I was chatting with the amazing Natasha aka Buttonnose Crochet. Natasha said she would love to design something for Yarn Me Calm using yarns that we stock and would look at doing something for us as soon as she had some breathing room!
Natasha is generally super busy designing some gorgeous patterns for us all to make. She designs everything from beautiful wraps and cowls, flowers and mandalas to breathtaking blankets!
Many of you would know some of Natasha's amazing designs including her recent Crochet Along 'Wrapped up in You' (WUIY) blanket. I made WUIY with a combination of Fiddlesticks Superb 8 and Scheepjes Colour Crafter and the pattern is absolutely divine! Here is a quick look at my WUIY in progress...
Natasha decided that she would love to make a lightweight cardi (cardigan for those of you don't understand Australian/English!!!) that would be perfect for the warmer weather that we have using some stunning Coboo from Lion Brand Yarn.
Coboo is a combination of 50% cotton and 50% bamboo. It is beautifully soft and has gorgeous drape. We here at Yarn Me Calm rate Coboo at a 3 - Fluffy Chickens on our Squishy Rating Scale!
Natasha has worked extremely hard on this pattern with her phenomenal testers to ensure that there is a range of sizes available.
About the fabulous Natasha - Buttonnose Crochet
Hi all, my name is Natasha and I am a mum to a teen daughter (help!) and live in regional Queensland. I have been designing for 7 years now. I started designing as I was bored with everything I was making. My first design was an owl plastic bag holder. Fast forward 7 years and I have designed and published over 55 patterns, some very detailed and technical. I love to make and design blankets, accessories, garments and, homewares. My favourite stitches are textured, such as popcorn, puff, and post stitches.
Many of my designs are created from playing with stitches but the most precious designs are ones I design with my heart. I have 2 patterns dedicated to my late grandmother who taught me to crochet and 1 pattern dedicated to stillbirth, miscarriage and infertility, something I have personally experienced.
Although some patterns are intermediate level, I always add pictures to the patterns and strive to have video tutorials for the more difficult patterns, but at any time you need help I am just a message away on Facebook or via email.
Sassy Chic Cardi
With Summer upon us, the beach is one place we go to cool down. The Sassy Chic Cardi is great to wear over a swimsuit or even as a casual cardi to wear on a cool summers evening.
Skill Level
The skill level is beginner friendly if you are willing to jump out of your comfort zone. Only basic stitches have been used and the best part, there is no sewing involved, just the ends.
Sizing
The pattern is available in sizes XS to 5XL with a 4” – 6” (10cm – 15cm) positive ease.
Materials
The yarn used for the Sassy Chic Cardi is Lionbrand Coboo. It is an 8ply/Dk/#3 weight yarn but can easily be rated as a 5ply/Sport/#2 weight. This yarn is soft to work with and creates a beautiful draping fabric for your garment.
You will also need a 4.5mm hook, stitch markers, measuring tape and a needle to sew in ends.
Gauge Swatch
As this is a garment, a gauge swatch is required to be made, so you will get the sizing as stated in the pattern. Do not be afraid, a gauge swatch only takes 10 mins to whip up. If your gauge is different to what is in the pattern, you may need to change hook size.
Other information
The pattern is available in US and UK terms.
Blocking the Cardi is not essential, but if you want to open the lace section up, only gently block the garment.
