Spoke ‘n’ Stitches and Spoke ’n’ Petals Coasters

Spoke ‘n’ Stitches and Spoke ’n’ Petals Coasters

Mid to late last year I popped this free little pattern up on Instagram and Facebook.  I had planned at the time to put it here on The Calming Yarn too but totally forgot all about it!

I was reminded recently by a fabulous human who was asking about easy coaster patterns and thought I had better get to it!

The original pattern was made using Scheepjes 4 ply Organicon cotton, it is beautifully soft and it is still holding its shape and form extremely well.

The latest version was made using Fiddlesticks Wren which is an 8 ply/DK weight yarn.  I found that the Fiddlesticks Wren gives the stitches a 'crisper' definition.  Because I used a thicker weight yarn and larger hook, I created an additional, slighter smaller version of the Spoke 'n' Stitches coaster as the original version may be a bit large for some people!

I have written the patterns in both US and UK terms, please check at the beginning of each section which terms you are using!

Materials:

  • Fiddlesticks Wren (or other 8 ply cotton), I used colour ways Musk 014, Silver 020 and Petal 008 (the picture below shows Musk 014, Petal 008 and Ivory 003).
  • 4.00 mm crochet hook (I used a Tulip Etimo Red)
  • Needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors
  • Stitch markers

I have written the patterns in both US and UK terms.
