Learn Xandy’s favourite way to create big, bold holes in your knitting.

There are many ways to make large holes in your knitting – Xandy Peters’ least favourite is moths! The Trypophobia Shawl uses his favourite method combining some clever increases and decreases to create striking openwork motifs.
You will have the opportunity to cast on a shawl project and work the first few pattern repeats in the workshop with Xandy there to help and guide you.
In this class you’ll learn…
- How to combine increases and decreases to form large openwork motifs
- How to cast on and set up the Trypophobia Shawl
- How to read and work the first pattern repeats
- Tips for keeping track of your place in the pattern
Requirements:
This class is best suited for intermediate level knitters or adventurous beginners who have experience reading patterns and working basic increases and decreases.
What you'll need:
1 ball of yarn in any weight, appropriate size needles for your yarn.
Optional:
Crochet hook, note paper/graph paper, a pencil and eraser, highlighters, and a digital row counter.
About Xandy Peters
Xandy Peters is a knitting designer and teacher, best known as the innovator of the stacked stitch technique and for the Fox Paws pattern. Starting out as a footwear and product designer, he turned to knitting as a way to explore textiles and surfaces without factory production, and has since made a career out of publishing new patterns and teaching workshops.
His designs have appeared in Vogue Knitting, Twist Collective, Knitscene, Knitty and Pom Pom Quarterly, and he teaches stacked stitches in his Craftsy class. Xandy says: “I want to encourage knitters of all levels to use their craft as a form of self expression, to try new techniques, and to share their projects and experiences.”

When you book and pay for this workshop, you are guaranteed a spot. We require a minimum of participants in order for the workshop to go ahead. If we cancel the event for any reason, you are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class, you may send someone in your place. Please let us know so we can update attendance and contact lists. You may request a refund for non-attendance up to 10 business days before the event. No changes will be possible after this time.
