Looking after YOU during the Silly Season

Looking after YOU during the Silly Season

Hmm, not one but two blogs this month!  Why, you might ask...well its because I find this stuff pretty important, looking after YOU, when lets be honest you are generally spending most of your energy at this time of year looking after others!

The other blog, A Little Bauble of Cheer, was sharing a little pattern to make you smile, this one however is about how you can hopefully keep smiling through the madness that is the silly season. You know, that magical time of year when the world seems to go a little bit bonkers. From office parties to family gatherings, it's a whirlwind of festivities, food, and fun.  There are also those of us who may not have people to share this time of year with, so we are thinking of you too!  But amidst all the chaos, it's important not to forget about taking care of yourself. After all, you can't spread holiday cheer if you're running on empty. So, here are some tips to help you navigate the silly season with your sanity intact.

1. Pace Yourself (and Your Eggnog)

It's easy to get caught up in the excitement and overindulge in all the delicious treats and libations. But remember, moderation is key. Pace yourself when it comes to eating and drinking, and you'll avoid that dreaded holiday hangover (both literal and figurative).

2. Get Your Zzz's (Even if Santa Doesn't)

With all the parties and late-night festivities, it's tempting to burn the candle at both ends. But don't forget the importance of a good night's sleep. Make sure to prioritise rest and relaxation, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the next holiday shenanigans.

3. Take a Breather (No, that is not one of Rudolphs friends)

Amidst the chaos, it's crucial to carve out some time for yourself. Whether it's a quiet walk in the park or a cozy night in with a good book, make sure to take a breather and recharge your batteries. You'll thank yourself later.

4. Embrace the Joy (and the Ugly Sweaters)

The silly season is all about embracing the joy and spreading good cheer. So, don't be afraid to let loose and have some fun. Rock that ugly sweater, sing along to cheesy holiday tunes, and dance like nobody's watching. After all, 'tis the season to be silly!

5. Give Yourself the Gift of Self-Care

Amidst the hustle and bustle, don't forget to prioritise self-care. Whether it's treating yourself to a spa day, indulging in a bubble bath, or simply taking a few moments to practice mindfulness (knitting or crocheting of course), make sure to give yourself the gift of self-love. You deserve it!

6. Laugh it Off (Preferably with a Side of Fruitcake)

Let's face it, things don't always go according to plan during the silly season. But instead of stressing out, why not embrace the chaos and have a good laugh? Remember, laughter is the best medicine (and it pairs well with fruitcake).

7. Connect with Loved Ones (Even the Crazy Ones)

Amidst all the festivities, don't forget the true meaning of the silly season: spending time with loved ones. Whether it's your wacky aunt, your beloved fur-child or your eccentric cousin, take the time to connect and create lasting memories. After all, it's those around us that make the season truly special (and no one says they have to be human!).

So, there you have it. A survival guide to help you navigate the silly season with grace, humour, and a healthy dose of self-care. Remember, it's a time to celebrate, have fun, and take care of yourself. Cheers to a happy and silly season!
