In this workshop, participants will learn the basic skills needed to begin double knitting- a form of reversible, floatless colourwork!
We will learn to cast on, work with two colour and create the dual sided fabric, as well has how to read a chart. At the end of the day, participants will have learned how to make their very own double knitted pot holder or coaster!
When: 11th April at 2.30 pm - 5.30 pm
Duration: 3 hours
Where: Yarn Me Calm 40 Geelong Road, Portarlington.
Cost: $75 per person (all proceeds donated to Team Namaste Navigators and the Shit Box Rally 2026 - see below).
About Tamaryn
Tamaryn has been knitting for over 15 years. After she completed her first double knitting project, she absolutely fell in love with the craft, and has been refining her skills and designing double knit patterns ever since! Some of her favourite motifs are turtles and bikes, and she loves to work with bright colours.

Materials needed:
8 ply yarn in two distinct colours
3mm needles (straight, or circular, minimum 80cm for ease. We will be knitting flat.)
Can be purchased at Yarn Me Calm prior to commencement of the workshop or bring your own.

All proceeds of this workshop will be donated to Team Namaste Navigators who are proud participants in Shitbox Rally 2026 Spring.  

This incredible event will see them drive a car worth $1,500 or less — affectionately known as a “Shitbox” — from Adelaide to Darwin, alongside 500 other adventurous participants.

Shitbox Rally is not a race, but a challenge to accomplish the unthinkable: tackling thousands of kilometres through remote outback roads and rugged Australian terrain, all in the name of a very important cause.

This rally aims to raise $2 million for Cancer Council to support groundbreaking cancer research across the country. Since its inception in 2009, Shitbox Rally has raised over $60 million, making it the largest community-based fundraiser for Cancer Council in Australia.

CANCELLATION AND TRANSFER POLICY

You can cancel or change dates up to 10 days prior to the workshop and receive a full refund. This ensures your spot can be made available for another interested student.

Less than 10 days prior to the workshop we will be unable to reschedule or refund the cost. You may however transfer your booking to a friend or receive store credit to the value of the workshop.

All workshops will run if there are more than three people attending. However, if there is a sole person attending, it will be cancelled, and you will be offered a full refund or to transfer to another date. This will be done at least 3 days before the event.

If for any reason Yarn Me Calm must cancel a workshop for any other reason you will be offered a full refund or offered to transfer to another date.

Full payment is required prior to the start of the workshop to confirm your spot.

Minimum numbers - All workshops require a minimum of three people to go ahead. If your workshop does not have the minimum number of students, the workshop may be cancelled or postponed.

You will be notified within three days of the workshop date if it has been cancelled or changed. We cannot be held liable for travel or any other costs in the event of a cancellation.

If your workshop is postponed or cancelled, you can use the amount paid for the workshop to purchase another event/activity, use as store credit, or be issued a full refund.
